About the author: Serge Chouraqui - 8e Dan
Serge Chouraqui began teaching karate in 1968, and in 1972 created his own dojo, the Sporting International Karate Club in Paris. His club has become one of the best in Europe, winning many international competitions. Many world champions have been trained at the SIK. At the same time as teaching, he was a member of the French team from 1969 to 1978. The team won the European Team Championships in 1971.
In 1980 Serge Chouraqui returned to the technical direction of the French Karate Federation (FFKAMA) where he has several responsibilities (coach for the women's French national kata teams, Federal Technical Director...)
At an international level, he became world referee for kata in 1985.
