Yoshiaki Ajari began his study of the Goju Ryu style of karate under
legendary instructors Shozo Ujita and Gogen Yamaguchi. From Wakayama Prefecture
he moved to Tokyo in order to attend Meiji University where he became a student
of the Founder of Wado Ryu. Fifty years later karate continues to be a central
part of his life.
When the founder of Wado Ryu began his study of karate he was already a
master of jujutsu. Not surprisingly he incorporated many of the older art’s
subtle concepts of movement, distance and timing into his karate, making it more
effective, fluid, and dynamic.
This program deals with the first half of the Wado Ryu Karate syllabus from
dojo etiquette to the basic kata and their applications. Filmed on location at
the Suiho En Japanese garden, it forms part of a complete technical series on
the style that is as useful and informative as it is visually pleasing.
Running Time 50 minutes.
